Submission: Visitor applications are accepted anytime throughout the year. However, we ask that you submit your application six months in advance of your proposed visitation date to better accommodate you.
Funding: Since the IIGSS is a small non-profit research and educational institution with limited resources, space and funding are in short supply. We encourage participants to obtain support from their home institutions for expenses related to their visit, such as travel and subsistence expenses and a salary.
If this is not possible, the IIGSS will—on a case-by-case basis and subject to the availability of funds—cover travel and subsistence expenses. Please note that the Institute does not pay short-term visitors a salary.
Admission Criteria: When reviewing visitor proposals, we consider several matters beyond the merit of the proposed work and the scientific credentials of the applicant. Other pertinent aspects include:
- The relevance of the proposed work to the research of the IIGSS
- The applicant’s interest in systems research
- The overlap between the applicant’s research interests and those of other researchers who will be visiting at the same time
- The degree to which the proposed residency would contribute to the scientific depth of the IIGSS
